DESCRIPTION:Sign up for Youth Mental Health First Aid Training VIRTUALLY via Zoom. This live instructor-led session will be on Tuesday\, May 8\, 9am – 2:45pm Phoenix time. (Phoenix does not observe daylight savings time). \nThrough NATIVE HEALTH’s free Youth Mental Health First Aid training\, adults (18+) learn how to notice\, listen\, and respond when a young person needs support. \nWhat You’ll Learn in Youth Mental Health First Aid\nThis interactive training helps you recognize and respond to signs of mental health or substance use challenges in youth ages 12–18.\nDuring the training\, you’ll learn how to:\n• Notice early warning signs when a young person may be struggling.\n• Understand how life stress\, trauma\, and other factors can affect youth mental health.\n• Reach out with empathy and start supportive conversations.\n• Respond with confidence in both everyday and crisis situations using a simple 5-step action plan.\n• Connect youth to professional help and community resources.\n• Encourage ongoing wellness\, resilience\, and hope. \nWhat Participants Can Expect:\nWhen you sign up through NATIVE HEALTH\, you’ll follow a step-by-step process designed to guide you through the full training experience.\n1. Register for the training through NATIVE HEALTH.\n2. Create a learner account in MHFA Connect (the national MHFA learning platform).\n3. Gain access to course materials once enrolled in the course.\n4. Complete the required 2-hour self-paced online pre-work prior to attending the live session.\n5. Attend the live virtual instructor-led session with two certified MHFA instructors.\n6. Complete the required post-work.\n7. SUMMARY:What Can I Eat? (WCIE) Healthy Choices for American Indians and Alaska Natives
DESCRIPTION:NATIVE HEALTH’s Indigenous Wellness Program is hosting What Can I Eat? (WCIE)\, a nutrition education program for adults\, at NHW Community Health Center. This program will teach people how to eat in a way to keep their blood sugar healthy and is led by Gabrielle Begay and Sharmayne Hardy. We will cover topics such as learning to eat healthy\, making balanced food choices to support nutrition and blood sugar management\, and engage in hands-on activities with light physical movement. \nOpen to Native American adults and families 16+. Participants will receive a gift each session. \n📅 Tuesdays\, May 5\, 12\, 19\, 26\, and June 10.
