We will be reading “The Heart of a Chief” by Joseph Bruchac. This story centers on a young Native boy who fights to protect his heritage and culture. \nEnjoy fun activities in between chapters and participate in discussions. As an additional activity\, we will also work on learning and developing a poem that will reflect on Native American culture during our two month series! Our next meetings following June 9 will be Tuesday\, June 30 at NATIVE HEALTH Central\, Wednesday\, July 8 at NHW Community Health Center\, and July 22 at NHW Community Health Center. \nBook Club members will receive a free book and additional supplies for activities. This event commemorates the 102nd Anniversary of the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924\, which granted Native Americans citizenship and the right to vote. Don’t miss this special event honoring our history and shaping our future! \nEnjoy FREE frybread tacos\, screen printing (while supplies last) by local Indigenous artist TXYZ\, and browse an Indigenous market\, but most importantly\, take the opportunity to register to vote\, and learn why the Native Vote matters in Arizona! \nNavajo Nation voter registration will be provided by Phoenix Indian Center. \nNOTE: The first 100 people will receive limited edition prints by TXYZ.
