DESCRIPTION:Join NATIVE HEALTH’s Traditional Garden Program for Composting 101 with Sicada Sloan on Thursday\, August 20\, 2026\, from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Virtual via Zoom! \nIn this workshop\, we will learn all about compost! How does it work\, why is it important\, and how does it support our gardens and the wider ecosystem? Sicada will show us how to start your own compost- whether this is at a farm\, a backyard\, or on your kitchen counter.  \nGardener bio: Sicada currently farms in Fruitland\, New Mexico and has roots in Utah and Northern California. She is Diné through her father’s side. She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Stanford University in Earth Systems\, with an emphasis on sustainable agriculture and food systems. Sicada first started working on farms in 2019\, completed the Bidii Baby Foods’ Farmer-in-REZidence program in 2025\, and started her own farm\, ReRooted Farm in 2026. This program will teach people how to eat in a way to keep their blood sugar healthy and is led by Gabrielle Begay and Sharmayne Hardy. We will cover topics such as learning to eat healthy\, making balanced food choices to support nutrition and blood sugar management\, and learning how to incorporate physical activity into your daily routine. \nThis series is perfect for people living with diabetes or anyone who supports a family member\, friend\, or loved one with diabetes.
